EFI Tuning Classroom

What is EFI Tuning?

Electronic Fuel Injection systems are some of the most complex components in the modern automobile. They are also some of the most rewarding to the driver if tuned correctly. This is why professional tuners are in such high demand in today’s world of go-fast vehicles. But how can a customer be sure that his local tuner is qualified to handle his ride? Just when you thought all tuner shops were the same, EFI Tuning courses and certifications have become the benchmark for professionals in the field of electronic fuel injection.
EFI Tuning is the first school of its kind, designed specifically to teach the principles and skills required to successfully navigate your way through the fast paced world of high performance electronic fuel injection!.

At EFI Tuning, you can learn the basics of what EFI is, what "tuning" is, and all of the related principals both theoretical and mechanical that are involved in using high performance, aftermarket EFI systems. Using a wide variety of professional tuning tools, you will learn what it takes to become certified in this specialized field.
Our school was the brainchild of Syahz Mohd. Syahz is a qualified tuner for Haltech and Microtech from Australia, with a passion for sharing his knowledge with others. After years of traveling and tuning systems all over the country, Syahz realized that there is still a large void of information in the performance industry about the how's and why's of EFI operation. It was this realization that caused him to search for available trustworthy information that he could share with others. After many hours of disappointing and frustrating investigation,Syahz realized that there was only one good way to get the information out there!

Thus, EFI Training was born.
Now there is a place where anyone can come and ask for the knowledge they thirst for. Best of all, they can receive it without the uncertainty of knowing whether or not the source is reliable; nothing but professional knowledge using professional tuning tools.

It is no secret that the performance racing industry is filled with inaccurate and untrue information. Sorting through the bad to find the good can sometimes seem like a daunting task to even the more experienced performance enthusiasts.
In the aftermarket industry, there are magazine articles, web pages, a few books, Internet chat rooms, and advice from other racers, but all of these sources are limited in their reliability and often require a massive time investment to glean what most would consider a moderate amount of good, solid information. Most are more concerned with advertising and profits than educating those in the field. EFI Tuning is out to change that
Now you can learn from proven, race winning industry experts and take comfort in the fact that the people you are learning from have put their knowledge to practical use; turning their love into their career path. Be the next to carry on the EFI name with a certification that will bring your business and reputation to the next level. Let EFI Tuning and Innovate Motorsports get you there.
Our proven track record and our satisfied customers speak for themselves.

"Best money I think I'll ever probably spend on my car. I have been reading and learning and trying to understand all of these concepts the best I could the past few months. I couldn't count how many times throughout the two days that I said "Oh, now I understand what that means." Looking forward to the advanced classes!"

The History of MicroTech
From Sydney, Australia to the World

M
icrotech Automotive Systems was founded eight years ago in 1994 by Domenic (Dom) DeCaria.  Having purchased a late model fuel injected motor he intended to retro fit to an early model Toyota, Dom recognized a gap in the electronic engine management market and set about filling it.  A qualified and trained Computer Engineer majoring in Micro-Controllers, Dom tackled the task head on and created what in effect was to be MicroTech’s first Engine Control Unit (ECU), an analogue potentiometer adjusted ECU that ran the injected Toyota more than adequately.  Friends with similar problems commissioned Dom to manufacture comparable units to run their imported turbocharged and fuel injected engines, which again were intended for early model vehicle fit outs.
One of these projects, a 20B rotary powered Mazda RX2, would prove to be a significant exercise.  The research & design of this system propelled Dom’s enthusiasm to new heights and MicroTech Automotive Systems was born.
The first units were called the MicroTech D4 and were a screwdriver adjustable unit; this was followed by the D4s and D5.  At this point sales really took off and with some help from the “import racing” fraternity the systems got nationwide coverage in all major car magazines.
The MicroTech DIGI and DIGI2 were the first digital systems produced by MicroTech back in 1996.  These were later re-designed making them able to control auxiliary outputs and inputs.
The MT series was released in 1998 and later upgraded to the LT series in 1999.  The LT series included laptop interface software and the potential for multiple auxiliary outputs and inputs.
The current LT8S and LT12 are truly competing at the same level as any other product on the world market, at times with a price point up to a third of the cost of alternative units.
The flagship LT16 is destined for a market lifespan in excess of 5 years with its state of the art hardware and its diverse scope for software expansion.
Early 2003 a strategic plan was set in motion to successfully take the Australian born MicroTech products to the world market, hence the Creation of MicroTech Global.  This plan will see the continued growth, development and innovation of MicroTech products and accessories for the enthusiastic aftermarket automotive market on a global platform.

Benefits

§  The LT systems use factory sensors, so no drilling or tapping is needed and the system uses the sensors that were designed to fit into the engine by the manufacturer.
§  LT systems are pre-configured so there is no set up needed to enable the unit to run on a specific engine.  All trigger angles, home and synch references triggers are all as per factory and also require no custom chopper discs or modification to existing sensors.  You can confidently order a system and know it will work on the car perfectly.
§  All LT's can be fined tuned either by the hand controller or by laptop making the system perfect for the 1st time tuner or the professional racer.
§  MicroTech systems are designed with user friendliness in mind.  Settings in the ECU directly reflect injector output time, unlike some other systems and the simplicity makes owner/tuners able to relate to the system and needs of the engine better than a system full of technical jargon and electronic engineering vocabulary.
§  The LT provides users with the fine tunability usually only found in high end ECU's while still retaining MicroTech’s distinct price advantage over all its competitors.
§  And to top it all off, all MicroTech products are covered by a 12 month material & workmanship warranty in the unlikely case of a problem So whether you are looking for improved performance, better fuel economy or simply the luxury of having a fully adjustable ECU fitted to your vehicle the Microtech will give you all the features you could possibly ask for without the hassle & expense of our competition.

Primary Competitor

§  The LT10s competes against Haltech E6K and Motec M systems in the market place.  The MicroTech has a distinct price advantage over both of these systems.

Things to Consider

§  The LT10s currently has a save to memCAL feature when saving maps which is not as desirable and easy to work with as the save to disc functions of the other systems.

The LT10s did not have until recently the tune ability resolution of the other competitor systems and certain compromises had to me made from time to time, particularly when using large injectors and short injector opening times at low speed.  The LT10s has fewer outputs which can be configured to run multiple auxiliary functions such as extra injector, idle speed, and fan control all at once with an aux input.  However most vehicles only require 2 or 3 outputs to operate all factory auxiliary functions.

Haltech engine management systems are designed to be as universal as possible with the ability to control single cylinder motor cycles to V8 racing cars and most engines in between. It can control throttle body, multi-point or staged injection, distributor or direct ignition, naturally aspirated or turbo or supercharged engines. Name the application and in most cases Haltech can control it.

Haltech has been acknowledged by magazines such as the US "Hot Rod" and "Turbo" magazines as being the first in the world to develop engine management systems programmable in real time (with the engine running) by personal computers. Haltech currently holds several patents on
the system.
Haltech History
Haltech was started by Steve Mitchell with the backing of his father Bill Mitchell in 1986. The original intention was to develop diagnostic equipment for electronic fuel injection but a request by "Modern Motor" magazine to solve the problem of supplying fuel to a supercharged Ford project car led to the development of a supplementary fuel injection computer. This was followed by a turbo timer.
Haltech then developed the world's first real time PC programmable engine management system i.e. programmable with the engine running. Screwdriver adjustable engine management systems had been available before the first Haltech ECU. There were systems such as the English Zytek which were very good systems but expensive, and at that time not programmable in real time. The first system, the F2 was followed by the F3 model which was produced by the thousands and there are many of both models still running today.
Later the F7 model was produced, originally for motor bikes and rotaries but it was no sooner released than customers were reporting proudly how well it was performing on their V8's! A whole series of fuel only computers followed the F7 with the F7A, F7B, F7C, F9, F9A to the F10 that we have today.
The E5 fuel injection computer led to the development of the E6, E6A and E6S fuel injection/ignition timing computers and was the origins of our successful E6K and E6X computers. The E6 series spawned a whole new era of engine management computers where fuel and ignition was controlled, but also idle speed and many ancillary devices.
The E11 series increased resolution, accuracy and allowed a large feature set with a powerful 32-bit processor. Together with improved user interface and data logging software, the E11/E8 is a highly regarded ECU in the market place.
The Platinum Series ECU's are the product of many years of R&D in the racing and performance industry. The result is a solid product range with wide feature sets with proven performance and reliability.
Haltech has a staff of engineers that are continually developing new products as well as supporting and updating existing products. Haltech products are designed and manufactured in Australia with Haltech’s own PCB manufacturing facilities to ensure that the greatest care is taken with the assembly of our product.
The Haltech ECU was the first highly adjustable reasonably priced programmable engine management system available and it was the right product at the right time. It is now in use in many countries world wide and the market is still growing.
