Microtech EFI

The History of MicroTech
From Sydney, Australia to the World

M
icrotech Automotive Systems was founded eight years ago in 1994 by Domenic (Dom) DeCaria.  Having purchased a late model fuel injected motor he intended to retro fit to an early model Toyota, Dom recognized a gap in the electronic engine management market and set about filling it.  A qualified and trained Computer Engineer majoring in Micro-Controllers, Dom tackled the task head on and created what in effect was to be MicroTech’s first Engine Control Unit (ECU), an analogue potentiometer adjusted ECU that ran the injected Toyota more than adequately.  Friends with similar problems commissioned Dom to manufacture comparable units to run their imported turbocharged and fuel injected engines, which again were intended for early model vehicle fit outs.
One of these projects, a 20B rotary powered Mazda RX2, would prove to be a significant exercise.  The research & design of this system propelled Dom’s enthusiasm to new heights and MicroTech Automotive Systems was born.
The first units were called the MicroTech D4 and were a screwdriver adjustable unit; this was followed by the D4s and D5.  At this point sales really took off and with some help from the “import racing” fraternity the systems got nationwide coverage in all major car magazines.
The MicroTech DIGI and DIGI2 were the first digital systems produced by MicroTech back in 1996.  These were later re-designed making them able to control auxiliary outputs and inputs.
The MT series was released in 1998 and later upgraded to the LT series in 1999.  The LT series included laptop interface software and the potential for multiple auxiliary outputs and inputs.
The current LT8S and LT12 are truly competing at the same level as any other product on the world market, at times with a price point up to a third of the cost of alternative units.
The flagship LT16 is destined for a market lifespan in excess of 5 years with its state of the art hardware and its diverse scope for software expansion.
Early 2003 a strategic plan was set in motion to successfully take the Australian born MicroTech products to the world market, hence the Creation of MicroTech Global.  This plan will see the continued growth, development and innovation of MicroTech products and accessories for the enthusiastic aftermarket automotive market on a global platform.

Benefits

§  The LT systems use factory sensors, so no drilling or tapping is needed and the system uses the sensors that were designed to fit into the engine by the manufacturer.
§  LT systems are pre-configured so there is no set up needed to enable the unit to run on a specific engine.  All trigger angles, home and synch references triggers are all as per factory and also require no custom chopper discs or modification to existing sensors.  You can confidently order a system and know it will work on the car perfectly.
§  All LT's can be fined tuned either by the hand controller or by laptop making the system perfect for the 1st time tuner or the professional racer.
§  MicroTech systems are designed with user friendliness in mind.  Settings in the ECU directly reflect injector output time, unlike some other systems and the simplicity makes owner/tuners able to relate to the system and needs of the engine better than a system full of technical jargon and electronic engineering vocabulary.
§  The LT provides users with the fine tunability usually only found in high end ECU's while still retaining MicroTech’s distinct price advantage over all its competitors.
§  And to top it all off, all MicroTech products are covered by a 12 month material & workmanship warranty in the unlikely case of a problem So whether you are looking for improved performance, better fuel economy or simply the luxury of having a fully adjustable ECU fitted to your vehicle the Microtech will give you all the features you could possibly ask for without the hassle & expense of our competition.

Primary Competitor

§  The LT10s competes against Haltech E6K and Motec M systems in the market place.  The MicroTech has a distinct price advantage over both of these systems.

Things to Consider

§  The LT10s currently has a save to memCAL feature when saving maps which is not as desirable and easy to work with as the save to disc functions of the other systems.

The LT10s did not have until recently the tune ability resolution of the other competitor systems and certain compromises had to me made from time to time, particularly when using large injectors and short injector opening times at low speed.  The LT10s has fewer outputs which can be configured to run multiple auxiliary functions such as extra injector, idle speed, and fan control all at once with an aux input.  However most vehicles only require 2 or 3 outputs to operate all factory auxiliary functions.
